Congratulations to two of our international schools for being shortlisted for 3 categories in this year's TES Awards!
The NLCS Family of Schools are riding on the wave of success as NLCS Jeju and NLCS Dubai secure their places on the shortlist for three prestigious TES Awards for International Schools. The nominations reflect the schools’ commitment to excellence and innovation in education.
NLCS Jeju’s exceptional efforts in staff wellbeing and student mental health have earned it dual nominations in each category for the TES Awards.
The Staff Wellbeing Initiative of the Year recognises NLCS Jeju’s ‘Common Room Committee’ (CRC). This volunteer group has transformed the school’s culture by organising 17 weekly events and over 150 activities since its establishment in 2021. Teachers, support staff and their families benefit from a diverse range of activities, fostering a sense of community and wellbeing. Testimonials from staff members attest to the positive impact of the CRC initiative on their personal and professional lives.
In the Student Mental Health Initiative of the Year category, NLCS Jeju’s focus on three key initiatives – MyConcern, Wellbeing Manager and Komodo – has garnered attention. Working closely with student-led groups like the Student Welfare Awareness Group and the Student Council, NLCS Jeju has established a comprehensive approach to measuring and nurturing students’ mental health.
In addition to NLCS Jeju’s achievements, NLCS Dubai’s Vice Principal Pastoral, Emma Dawson, has been shortlisted for the Leadership Award. Emma’s impact on learning quality at NLCS Dubai has been profound. Her initiatives in student wellbeing, pandemic response and creating a safe and supporting environment has contributed significantly to improved student wellbeing and as a result, academic success.
Emma played a key role in developing the student wellbeing programme in collaboration with the counselling team and the student leadership. This programme has become instrumental in enhancing the overall wellbeing of students, providing essential support and resources for both academic and emotional growth.
The winners of the TES Awards for International Schools will be announced in a ceremony scheduled for April 25th 2024. The NLCS International School community eagerly anticipates the outcome, hopeful that NCLS Jeju and NLCS Dubai will emerge victorious in their respective categories. These nominations serve as a testament to our schools’ dedication to providing an exceptional educational experience that prioritises the holistic development and wellbeing of students and staff alike.
